Hello and welcome to the Arsonfest 2008 online presence. Here you will find a current list of who is playing, information on the venue and links to bands and locations of interest.
Arsonfest is an annual DIY music festival in Winnipeg, Canada. For nine years, Arsonfest has been pleased to bring you a weekend of fine independent music in support of Grassroots organisations in Winnipeg. Once again we are pleased to announce that this year’s festival will happen at the Rudolph Rocker Cultural Centre In the smog-filled heart of Winnipeg.
News Update April 21st
Human Garbage, Legerdemain and Violent Gorge have all generously donated their time for a benefit gig in support of Arsonfest. This show is scheduled to happen on Saturday May 3rd, 2008 at the Royal Albert Arms Hotel, 48 Albert Street. Tickets are $7 at the door. Music at 11pm, after the Condominium gig down the street at Ragpickers.
Confirmed bands:
Half Gorilla
Half Gorilla have a built themselves a well earned reputation for being one of the best kept secrets in the USA. We are in on the ruse and are pleased to welcome back our friends and neighbours from Milwaukee for more abuse and moshing.
Useless Wooden Toys
Skateboarding, thrash, and playing music for fun for fucksakes. What else is there in life? Minneapolis punks return to shred, rupture spleens and kick your ass. Tons of blasting and mayhem!
Under Pressure
These veterans of Arsonfest need no introduction. For over five years, these hard working kids have become a staple across North America and Europe and are playing this thing for the first time since 2004! Not to be missed.
Hard Charger
From Fredricton, and featuring members of Iron Fist, Hard Charger are a volatile fusion of low-end heavy dark hardcore smashed together with the billowing roar of Zeke or REO Speedealer. Crust n’ roll!
The Endless Blockade
The reigning kinds of Canadian power violence! Dirty, feedback-laden mixtures of frantic speed and pulverizingly slow chunks of sludge. Blunt, scathing and to this point, a much appreciated change of pace.
Putrescence
Stale. Rotten. Brutal. Winipeg’s most sickest and most grotesque band is exhumed once again to plague the living with blasts of repulsive death-grind.
Mudlark
Blood atonement occurs through the administration of painfully slow doom with the band occasionally rising from a sonic drowning to finish off your eardrums with quick blasts of grindcore.
Kursk
Tempo changing, throat shredding, dissonant and genre-bending, Kursk remains a festival favourite.
Osk
Members’ of Vancouvers’ Mass Grave and Limb from Limb join forces to lay down a set of grinding power violence, bridging the gap between Gob (Reno) and Iron Lung…
I Die Screaming
Totally off the hook Calgary three-piece grindcore. Extreme riffs with a curdled, shrieking death rattle to induce tinnitus. We are pleased to welcome I Die Screaming once again this year.
Compound Terror
Blaring, blasting heavy duty grindcore spit forth from this emerging Victoria three-piece, featuring our pal Scott from Iskra on the skins!
